Joe Padilla, Proprietor

A native Californian with more than 20 years of experience in both the wine and hospitality industries, Joe brings a vast array of experience and talent to Avant.  Joe is like a Central Coast red blend – enjoyable, approachable, and just plain fun to be around.

Brooke Stockwell, Executive Chef

Classically trained and culinarily talented, Brooke brings both passion and creativity to the Avant menu. A native of the Santa Barbara County, she is a locals’ favorite. Brooke reminds us of the wonderful Viognier – sometimes sweet, sometimes zingy, but always compelling, alive, and beautiful to behold.

Tracy On – Sous Chef

Also classically trained, Tracy is well versed in the culinary arts, having worked or trained in many of California’s top restaurants.  She brings a deep knowledge of haute cuisine and wine country cooking to Avant.  Tracy is the classy Chardonnay – performs well in many environments, elegant and sophisticated, with plenty of charm to spare.

Julie Major – Assistant Manager

After completing her degree in Oregon, Julie’s passion for food and wine brought her to the Santa Ynez Valley.   When looking for the latest hot spots in the valley, Julie is the one to talk to.   She is our Pinot Noir – bold, expressive, complex and feisty.
